525,600 minutes

Five hundred twenty-five thousand six hundred minutes, five hundred twenty-five thousand moments so dear, five hundred twenty-five thousand six hundred minutes, how do you measure, measure a year. (please tell me you sang that!! Its only from one of my favorite Broadway musicals like ever!)

So that’s it! 2017 came and went in the blink of an eye.12 whole months, 365 days, 525,600 minutes has flown by. I feel like every December, we all reflect on the year thats about to end, and think of how we can better our selves in the upcoming one. This past year has done just that, flown by. I actually don’t even know where it went! I was so busy with Tanner everyday that I forgot to focus on my self at times. (other moms, I know you can relate to this.)

We all make resolutions, so here goes my list. Maybe since this will be posted for many to read, I’ll feel like I have to be accountable for them.

Set monthly goals

I think all of my resolutions should start small, so that yearly planner that I bought months ago; I’m actually going to start using it. This is what I’m going to be planning for:

More blog posts

I’d love to write more. I started this blog as an online journal and to have other mama’s follow along to know they weren’t alone in the #momlife struggle. But as you all know, sometimes life gets busy and you just simply can’t find the time. Well, now I’m going to find the time. I have all of these ideas in my head on what I can write about but just don’t have the time to get to the computer to actually write them. Well, using this planner I’m going to start figuring out what I’m going to post before hand and start giving myself timelines. I also have been saying for the last 3 years that I’m going to start a book. So maybe this year I’ll actually do it.

For those of you who know me, you know I am FAR from a cook! In the last few months, I have made a few different recipes and was very proud of my self but would love to do more. Well, my brother just bought me a slow cooker recipe book called Fix-it and Forget-it.  It offers so many different recipes for different size slow cookers and its even categorized; chicken, pork, beef etc. What I plan on doing is going through it and highlighting what looks appealing to me and each week make one recipe. I’ll start there and then move on to actually cooking more difficult dishes that don’t call for the crock pot! This brings me back to my planner, I’m going to start planning out dinners weekly!

I wrote a blog post a while back on things I still need to learn (read it here). How to find time to clean was one of them. Well lets just say, I’m still trying to figure that out LOL. Tanner is FINALLY napping in her crib! So I’m going to have to start really cramming cleaning into this hour and a half time slot!

Finding me time

I don’t necessarily think that self care has to always be getting a mani/pedi although I do love them! The last few times I’ve even brought Tanner during her nap time and didn’t have to worry about entertaining her! However, I need to start taking care of my self more, whether it’s taking Denali for a walk in the freezing cold when Faheem gets home so I have 15 minutes of alone time, or dropping Tanner off at her grandparents so I can have an hour alone etc. One thing I definitely plan on doing is to find the time to read more. A few other mom bloggers have recommended a few mom books that I actually just bought and can’t wait to get so I can dive in! I’ll be sure to let you know how they are in case any of you mamas are interested!

(well really minus a day and a half haha) I would love to hear from you in the comments! I wish you all a happy and healthy new year! As always, thanks for reading along! ♥
